Hermits of the Blessed Virgin Mary

of Mount Carmel

As the Lord of hosts lives, whom I serve..."      1 Kings 18:15

Br. Paul Wathen

receives Postulant's Tunic

& Scapular

On November 21, the Feast of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Temple, Aspirant Paul Wathen made the next step in his journey towards total consecration to the Lord as a Carmelite Hermit: he became a Postulant.  As a Postulant, Br. Paul will participate in the majority of the spiritual exercises and manual labors of the community to prepare himself for living the fullness of the eremitical life as a Novice.

Br. Paul Wathen - Postulant

"What do you ask?"  "The mercy of God, to live in fraternity with the Brothers and to serve Our Lord and His Mother as a Hermit."

The Postulant's Habit

"May the Lord put off your old self with its past deeds, and may He clothe you with the new man, created in God's image, whose justice and holiness are born of truth."

"Take upon you the yoke of Christ which is sweet, and His burden light.  May this scapular be a sign if your consecration to the Blessed Virgin Mary, to whose service you are dedicated."

"With the blessing of God, all things are possible."
